Back in March, Olivia Rodrigo invited Right By You and Missouri Abortion Fund to share our work with Missourians attending her St. Louis concert. We could never have predicted that the simple act of handing out emergency contraception would make headlines across major media outlets, including The Guardian, NPR, CNN, and The Independent. The concert provided an incredible platform to support reproductive healthcare access in Missouri by distributing free contraception (EC), condoms, and essential health resources to concert-goers.
At the concert, we joined the Missouri Abortion Fund and at an information table inside the venue where fans could pick up a two-pack of Julie emergency contraceptive pills, which are typically costly and sometimes hard to access in states with restrictive reproductive healthcare laws like Missouri. Alongside the EC, we provided pamphlets with QR codes linking to abortion access resources, helping Missourians better understand and access the full range of reproductive healthcare options.
Our decision to bring emergency contraception to this event was part of our ongoing mission to make healthcare accessible, at a time when reproductive rights are under pressure. Missouri's restrictive healthcare landscape has left many unsure about the legality and availability of reproductive options. Many concert-goers expressed gratitude, and it was clear that this service made a meaningful difference for young people who often face the highest barriers to care.
This event was part of Olivia Rodrigo's Fund 4 Good initiative, which supports reproductive health freedom and justice. Through her initiative, a portion of concert ticket sales will go to the National Network of Abortion Funds, further amplifying the impact of her tour and helping local organizations like ours.
